How do I convince my group to try Maize Quest?
Maize Quest is all about teamwork. Your group arrives at the
farm, splits up into teams of 4-6, usually with an adult for each group.
After a brief introduction, the smaller teams are sent into the maze with a
gamesheet and a flag. The gamesheet is for fun and the flag is for safety.
As the teams progress you find it amazing to watch them
learn group problem solving, resolve issues such as “Who gets to stamp the
next picture” and “Who gets to carry the flag.” Inside the maze they must
work together to explore and find answers. Victory is determined not by how
fast you find the exit, but by how thoroughly you’ve explored each turn of
the maze.
Church Groups
Youth groups love the maze! There are so many parallels
between the maze and life. Losing your way, making the right choices, peer
pressure, light & darkness and so many more. Ask the farm location closest
to you for hayrides and campfires to compliment the maze experience. Some
locations even have meditative labyrinths and wild gardens!
Scouts
Scouts are navigators from the start. Maize-o-Vision is
our trademarked map revealing system. It allows groups to see the map at key
areas of the maze, but once the map is removed it becomes hidden again! The
scouts must navigate from station to station by memory. It’s a great
activity for early in the fall scouting season. A trip to the maze brings
troops together and gives older scouts a chance to help younger scouts learn
the ropes.
Schools
Teachers love the maze. Many teachers find the maze a
useful early fall trip to bring the class together, or teach kids to work
together on a project. Parents love chaperoning to the maze trip because its
fun! Teamwork is an important lesson for kids today at any age.
The theme is the most important educational component of
the maze. The theme relates to each part of the maze from pathways to
gamesheet. Kids answer questions related to the theme by finding clues in
the corn. The questions change every year, so teachers can visit each year
without information getting stale. Classes can visit each year even as they
progress through grades in school because the maze is never the same twice!
Many of our farm locations offer additional educational opportunities
ranging from cider-making tours to hayrides through the farm fields.

Is it safe?
Our Maze Masters work hard to ensure our visitors’ safety.
We patrol the maze, look out for flags, hire security for busy nights and/or
work extra staff for busy days. We believe that our farms should be a haven
for our guests; an environment in which you can forget the worries of the
outside world and rejoice in the simple pleasures of the farm. If you have
any specific needs or concerns please contact the individual maze location.
