What is Maize Quest®?
Hugh McPherson, and the McPherson family, launched
Maize Quest® in 1997 on their farm in York County, Pennsylvania. Maize
Quest® in York County has become America’s Only Maze Theme Park, an
educational attraction created on 15 acres of Maple Lawn Farms.
Maize Quest® appeals to families because it engages
both parents and children, challenges them to work together, and rewards
them with a sense of accomplishment. Maize Quest® is an attraction that
draws children outdoors, away from television and computers, where they
can interact with their parents in an exciting environment. Because of
our excellent in-maze activities, Maize Quest® also attracts school
groups, scout troops, church youth, and corporate team building groups.
Attendance at Maize Quest® in York County grew from
7,000 in 1997 to over 44,000 in three seasons through an extensive
public relations campaign and the return of satisfied customers. Maize
Quest® customers return to the maze for a variety of reasons. They
return to gain mastery of the maze, to challenge friends and family, to
conquer a new maze design, and to experience the maze at a different
time of day or season.
Maize Quest® organizers plan future expansion through
strategic partnerships with top quality farm operators across the
country. The 2003 Maize Quest® system entertained over 250,000 people at
our 27 North American locations. In 2004, Maize Quest® is building its
product offering to encompass four major categories of maze-based
attractions.
Diversified entertainment products allow our operators
to extend their seasons and operate their attractions while most farmers
are waiting for the corn to grow. Season extending attractions and
multiple maze locations allow the Maize Quest® system to build a
regional and national brand that encourages customers to make multiple
visits each year. Maize Quest® organizers are in the process of
interviewing partner locations for 2004. |
